Marmaduke ran so fast and recklessly that his owner-man lost "control" of the leash and did not return home with him. Marmaduke's owner-lady implies that it will be difficult for her to find another husband, so I guess he's gone for good.

Stay tuned for further updates; I predict the next Owner-Man will also look like Hitler, and there will be no reference to where he will have been grown (does Marmaduke have a laboratory?). I also predict they will never again speak of the old Owner-Man, who without having his dog to tell him what to do will probably wander the streets for a couple of weeks until he gets hit by a car or starves to death. How many families has Marmaduke gone through? Do the neighbors suspect anything? Today's comic raises far more questions than it answers.
