A little piece of Hollywood is coming to Houston in February.
The first-ever Oscar Roadtrip gets rolling Feb. 4 in New York and will stop in Houston on Feb. 17. The 21-day journey will end in Los Angeles on Feb. 24, just in time for the 85th Academy Awards presentation. Along the way, Oscar will make stops in Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, Baltimore Dallas, Phoenix and Kansas City.
During stops, film fans will have the opportunity to hold an actual Oscar statuette.
The journey will be chronicled at OscarRoadtrip.com and fans will be able to suggest impromptu stops via social media.
"We created the Oscar Roadtrip to bring the magic and fun of the Oscar ceremony to movie fans across the country," said Josh Spector, managing director of digital media and marketing for the Academy, said in a release. "The Oscar Roadtrip makes it possible to share the once-in-a-lifetime thrill that only comes from holding an Oscar statuette."
