Dallas gets the State Fair of Texas and Austin gets ACL, but Houston festival goers shouldn’t feel left out this weekend. Houston and its surrounding areas have plenty of going on if you are into beer, wine, margaritas, Italian food, art and traditional fairs .
Saturday’s all day Houston Margarita Festival at Discovery Green is a must for fans of margaritas and Latin music.
If you’d rather stomp grapes and drink wine, than the Houston Italian Festival at St. Thomas may be more of your thing. The festival, which kicked off Thursday , runs all weekend (11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday) so you’ll have plenty of time to take part in the pasta eating and getting your feet dirty.
The historic shopping village Old Town Spring will host the Autumn Art and Texas Wine Festival .
Fans of beer are in for a treat with the Craft Beer Quest on Saturday night at the Brewery Incubator downtown to help Houston’s commercial brewers.
The Brazoria County Fairgrounds will celebrate the Brazoria County Fair’s 74th anniversary and will feature a livestock show, Tejano music and more fun for the entire family.
While many of the acts playing ACL passed through Houston this week and did some warm-up shows for the big event in Austin, there are still some good shows in Houston . Fourth Ward’s own Kenny Rogers plays the Arena Theater on Friday.
If you like cool rock poster art or would like to see innovative art done on the water, then hit up the Bayou City Arts Festival .
Turkish Fest 2012 hits Jones Plaza and should be a belly-dancing good time.
