Reading through these, I'm beginning to suspect that there is actually an overall narrative, it's just structured like one of those Alejandro González Iñárritu / Guillermo Arriaga films (21 grams, Babel, etc). For instance, kidnapping these children leads to him being arrested (at least one of the times). The one where Marm "buys' the couch, and then the one where he "loves" the couch.
