There's not a lot to know about this half-hour documentary airing tonight on Houston PBS other than its title: Montrose, Texas: The Transformation of a Neighborhood. Also, it starts at 9:13 p.m. (Pledge-break timing, I assume.) And it's narrated by Ernie Manouse. There you go. Set your DVR.
Booooooooo!
Glad Suzanne Anderson isn’t my realtor since she can’t tell the difference between crappy town homes built in the 70’s she identified as being built in the 20’s. ha! Most of the show was very heart warming but Montrose deserves a story told by informed academics who actually know facts and are the folk who make this area what it is. Sad that this was meant to raise funds locally for PBS.
I feel you, slowride. Its heart was in the right place, but, yeah. More facts would have been awesome. Some local music would have been appropriate. So much wrong.
I thought it was alright but they sure did press the GLBT community a little much. There is alot more to Montrose than the GLBT community. They could have pressed more on the art and music scene in the area and the shops and restaurants could have used some help too.
The reason it was focused on the GLBT community is b/c the funding to make it came from a govt' grant specifically for aging Gay/Lesbian social services.
