Are you ready for some football?

On Sunday at 3:30 p.m. the streets of Houston should resemble a ghost town. There will be no traffic and the only places you will find life will be at sports bars as the Texans will face the Patriots in the playoffs. If you aren't hard core enough to make the trek to New England, then plenty of bars around town will be showing the game and hosting watch parties. Put on your Watt and Foster jerseys and let's go!

    Beware of monsters
Reliant Stadium will be vacated since the Texans are on the road, but you will still have the chance to see big things smash against each other. Monster trucks will meet at Monster Jam at 7 p.m. Saturday at Reliant Stadium. Tickets are available with seats starting at $20 for adults and $5 for kids.

This year’s Chevron Houston Marathon will take place on Sunday and if you aren't running or planning to watch, you may have to plan around this huge event. The start line for the marathon is in the front of Minute Maid Park, just north of the George R. Brown Convention Center. From downtown, participants will run through the Heights and Montrose neighborhoods. At about mile 9, half marathoners split off from the marathon course and return to finish at the convention center.

    A little bit country

Not many shows are in town this weekend unless you like country music. Jon Wolfe plays at 9 p.m. on Friday at the Firehouse Saloon while Curtis Grimes (who was once on "The Voice") performs at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at Dosey Doe Music Cafe.

    Gangsters, ghosts and terrorists
Some big movies hit theaters this week. Here is what is playing:

In "Gangster Squad",a small group of Los Angeles policemen (Josh Brolin, a nasally Ryan Gosling, Robert Patrick, Anthony Mackie, among others) is assembled to “go to war” with Mickey Cohen (a made-up Sean Penn), a New York gangster running guns, drugs and prostitution, and generally wreaking havoc in 1940s L.A.

Not another scary movie, “A Haunted House” spoofs the likes of “Paranormal Activity” and “The Devil Inside.”

In “Zero Dark Thirty,” director Kathryn Bigelow retraces the U.S. Intelligence Community’s pursuit and capture of Osama bin Laden.
