Turner Classic Movies comes to Houston and brings Eva Marie Saint with it

Screen star Eva Marie Saint will make a personal appearance to introduce a once-only screening of On the Waterfront, for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, on March 14 at 7:30 p.m.

A powerful social commentary and riveting personal dram, On the Waterfront won eight 1954 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Elia Kazan and of course, Best Actor for Marlon Brando.

The powerhouse cast also includes Lee J. Cobb, Karl Malden and Rod Steiger, all three of whom were nominated as Best Supporting Actor for the film.

The free screening, presented by Turner Classic Movies and AT&T, is part of TCM’s The Road to Hollywood Tour hitting 10 major cities across the country in March and April. The Road to Hollywood is a build-up to the vintage film network’s annual TCM Classic Film Festival, which is April 12-15 in Hollywood.

Saint will be introduced before the screening and interviewed by TCM weekend host Ben Mankiewicz. Saint had leading roles in many major films of the 1950s, ‘60s and and ‘70s, including North by Northwest with Cary Grant, Exodus with Paul Newman, 36 Hours and Grand Prix with James Garner and The Stalking Moon with Gregory Peck.

Tickets are free and can be downloaded, staring Feb. 29, at www.tcm.com/2012/roadtohollywood. There will be a limited number of tickets available and are not reserved seats, and there may be more tickets than seats. Seating at the MFAH’s Brown Auditorium Theater will be on a first-come basis.
