Who needs drugs when you've got Sesame Street?

Like any right-thinking, God-fearing American, my mom propped me up in front of Sesame Street every day starting as soon as I could sit up on my own. And thank goodness she did; tell me one reason why Sesame Street isn't incredible for children and I will tell you why you're an asshole.

Thank goodness as well for YouTube, because some twenty-plus years after first witnessing it I was able to track down my all time favorite Sesame Street clip. I hope you're not wearing an expensive hat because your mind is about to get blown all over it:

That two-minute journey into the surprisingly psychedelic world of crayon manufacturing had a profound impact on me; among other things, it explains my enduring love of both Brian Eno and crayons. I hope I've allowed a few of you out there to mainline some nostalgia; for those of you who weren't down with the Sesame Street back in the day, this is what you were missing. Every day could've been a total mindfuck.

I bring this up because I needed a sample for a new site I came across the other day, Yooouuutuuube.com. I'm not quite sure how to explain what's going on with this thing other than "whoa, crazy" so I'll let you just dive right in. First of all, that color orange just makes me hungry for mac and cheese. Secondly, check out the utopian crayon factory staffed entirely by minorities and the elderly. All those people are now either dead or unemployed and replaced by robots.

    Thank you, America.

OMFG I totally remember this!! This episode made me want to be a crayon when I grew up. It blew my mind then and incredibly still has the same effect now.
