Come on. There has to be something in Houston that you're a fan of. Go to any restaurant, band, artist, etc on 29-95 and choose to be a fan.
live music, stiff drinks, days off, useless iPhone apps, coffee, great food, literature, interesting people, sports/ competition, good grammar, fashion.
This article strikes me as more anti-Pitchfork than anti-Arcade Fire. We get it that you don't like how they hype a band and that band subsequently becomes critical darlings, etc. Nevertheless, did you actually listen to the record or just take the exact opposite position as Pitchfork? The album is terrific or at least really good. It wasn't fair to just label the entire band over-hyped and their album shit. Maybe you're just perturbed by the fact that the album paints the suburbs, Houston suburbs no less, as wastelands that hold people back.
This protest really speaks to me (sadly)! I would love to go but I have to be an adult and work in the terrible Galleria area. If there is some sort of petition, I'll sign it. I loved the mushroom slider and detest that mushy black bean monstrosity.
There are some great tips in here! I love to support local/ indie businesses in Houston. I'll definitely be visiting a few of these places for my Christmas shopping. Not on black Friday, though. I don't have a death wish.
This is a strange fantasy but I'd like to see M.I.A. opening for OUTKAST with RADIOHEAD as the headliner. It would be the best six hours of music of my life.
Are you sure you weren't sent to review the more douchy and less far - Vintage Lounge? Why bother with a "pub" in suburbia when you can hit up $8 beer night at Vintage Lounge, provided you are with 4 slutty girls and wearing your favorite 'Affliction' v-neck?
