Come on. There has to be something in Houston that you're a fan of. Go to any restaurant, band, artist, etc on 29-95 and choose to be a fan.
I've worked for several years in TV and film. I compose and perform as a violinist with Two Star Symphony. I currently work for a non-profit, doing business development.
Music, movies, politics, etc.
"Meh. I'd rather be in europe or detroit or something" is officially my new favorite music-snob expression!
And even though you don't consider Summerfest to be appropriately d.i.y., it is a local music festival (organized by a local, music-centered, free newspaper), featuring dozens of local musicians performing in front of a local crowd, while local businesses sell locally-made food to that crowd of locals. So if you're looking for ways to support "the locals," you could do worse.
I would love to see this show!
Thanks, Sara! We're really excited - Two Star performed at SXSW as Daniel Johnston's backing band a few years ago, but this will be the first time we've ever been there as Two Star Symphony, playing our own music. Can't wait!!
Yeah, I was disappointed and a little confused by Ong Bak 2. The Tinkerbell ending was just weird, and the rest of the movie couldn't stand up next to the original Ong Bak. I haven't seen ass-kicking like what Tony Jaa delivered in the original Ong Bak in years - if ever - and the fights in the sequel aren't even close. Waaaay over-edited, and the ridiculous jittery-frame shutter effects just confuse and prevent viewers from appreciating the speed and difficulty of the fighters' moves.
Come on, Guy. You're Tony Jaa, not Tony Scott! Remember that when you make Ong Bak 3. Also, some connection (anything at all will do) to the characters and/or plot and/or same goddamn time period as the original Ong Bak would be great, if you're going to keep using that title.
Thanks for endorsing Two Star Symphony! There have been some scheduling changes, though, and Two Star will be performing SATURDAY, not Sunday. Two Star Symphony performs Saturday night at 9 p.m. on the parking lot stage at AvantGarden.
