I know exactly what you mean. Every month I make a run out to Rose’s Fish Market in Kemah. I will pack my fridge full of brown shrimp and extra-jumbo gulf shrimp. It’s always a five star meal at my house (three nights a week). The prices are fair and fish is plentiful. You support local fisherman and get to go for a drive. So grab your ice chest and a bag of ice, get you some real sea food, just don’t plan on eating down there unless you like Landry’s.
This place is good. The drinks to me were awesome, a little too pricey, but delicious. They make their own whisky and it is great! I had a chicken salad and I don’t know that they use good quality chicken. But that’s what I get for ordering the grilled chicken salad at a BBQ place. I am an advocate for using good meat. I am not sure they think that way. I could be wrong so I will try it again, but next time I will get the pork sandwich.
This place is good. I have been here a bunch but it is kind of out of my way. The food is cooked good and consistent, every time I go there I have a similar experience. Bacon is amazing. But don’t go on Sunday unless you are prepared to wait in a long line. With plenty of churches off of 59 the line will go out the door.
I can’t comprehend people saying they don’t like Star. This is one of my favorite spots in town, not only did they have St. Arnold’s reserve brew, but there is not a ranch dressing in town (or anywhere) that holds a candle. I don’t typically get pizza here though. I always get the pizza grinder, it comes with potatoes and I order a side of that ranch. If I were a lobbyist I would make my career lobbying Stars ranch.

Much respect but I am not a Landry's fan. And stop owning the boardwalk!
